Frequently Asked Questions
Q: "How can you all say that you are 'Christian greeks'? Isn't that a contradiction?"
A: We can say that we are Christian greeks because we simply stand for the fact that God is the Alpha and the Omega, according to Revelation 1:8, and we are new creatures in Christ Jesus (II Corinthians 5:17). And we strive to avoid doing some of the things typical of some other greek organizations, such as hazing and other things that are detrimental to one's health, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Remember, the letters should not make you; it is what you actually do that counts.
Q: "Why is it that the fraternity and sorority have the same letters?"
A: We are an umbrella organization comprised of a fraternity and sorority for the sake of taking care of certain business matters that can only involve one gender or the other.
Q: "If I join Alpha Nu Omega, Inc., can I join another fraternity or sorority?"
A: Yes, you may as long as the ideals of the organization do not conflict with the ideals of the Christian faith. (This is bigger than Alpha Nu Omega, Inc.)
Q: "Are you guys a church?"
A: No, but we are simply a microcosm of what the Body of the Christ should look like.
Q: "Are you all apart of the National Pan-Hellenic Council?"
A: No, we are part of the United Council of Christian Fraternities and Sororities. (See here.)
Q: "Is Alpha Nu Omega, Inc. a multicultural organization?"
A: Yes. Since we represent what the Body of Christ is, which is multicultural, we strive to induct members from all races, nationalities, and walks of life.
Q: "Why do you all step?"
A: We step because it is simply one way of giving God the glory. We can say and do things during a performance that can actually build up and encourage someone.
Q: "What types of things do you all do on campus?"
A: We put on ministry based events and programs, volunteer in the community (ex. Service Raleigh, Service NC State, Prostate Cancer walks, and other initiatives as they arise), perform step routines, and participate in blood drives. In all we do, we hope to glorify Christ and spread the Gospel.
Q: "Do I have to be saved to join?"
A: Not necessarily, as there have been some people in the past who were not saved prior to joining different Alpha Nu Omega, Inc. chapters, (but they learned some critical things during our Orientation Process that encouraged them to give their lives to Christ). But we do try to make it a point to induct those who have already been saved. We need Christian leaders who can be really effective in ministry on the campus and in the surrounding community.
